A double espresso book…

April 25, 2009

There is a new invention, and already it is been herald as a breakthrough in terms of book publishing. It is the Espresso Book Machine.

What it is is a machine that can print and bind books is five minutes. Read about it here: Guardian

I like the whole technological factor of this, and it would be enjoyable (for five minutes) to watch a book being printed. On the other hand, I enjoy immensely going into a bookshop and browsing. This is the complete opposite of that. I wonder too how much a book will cost, as at the moment it seems to be books with their copyrights expired.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it’s part of the new revolution of book buying, e-readers and the like. Would you want to do this, or is the prospect of quickly printing a book too terrible to imagine?
